2018 Lines in Motion - East meets West - Amsterdam

Time and space criss-cross in the East-meets-West Hong Kong. As a hongkonger wallowing in nostalgia for the good old days when the various cultures were still fused, I wish to convey the sense of loss through this work entitled "yau fa Yuen" (rendered as "wandering around the garden" into English). The ink-painted flowers in Chinese style compounded with a seal-scripted Cantonese nursery express not only my love for gardens but also the childhood memories of mine, as well as many others' of my generation. Stitches at random join rhythmically the past and the present, just as what the nursery does to the collective memory of most hongkongers
